Localized versions and assistance with translation workflows

You can install localized versions in four languages (English, French, German and Japanese). These have the added capability of being binary-compatible across languages. For example, you can create a project in the French version and open that same project in a Japanese version! You can have a mixture of languages not only in the same project, but in the same topic!

Further customization is found in TOC items, index keywords and glossary terms and definitions for truly international compatibility. Figure 5 shows an example of a mixture of Japanese and Greek characters with English, in both the TOC, index, and glossary.

RoboHelp 7 enables you to mix languages in your TOC, index, and glossary.

Unicode support for 35 languages

The following new Unicode language features have been added:

  • Table 1 shows that new dictionaries are available for most of the 35 languages that are included with this release. They are installed in a common location so that most popular Adobe products can use the same dictionaries. The dictionaries have all been updated to the latest versions.
  • The proper dictionary is associated with the project according to the preferred language. That means an author in the UK will get that dictionary associated with the project instead of the US version.
  • Auto-correct functionality has been improved and simplified. Find it under Tools > Spelling Options.
  • A topic, TOC, index keyword, or glossary item can have multiple languages.
  • Full Unicode support also means you can publish to a non-English server, even if you have multi-byte characters in the complete path name.
