Building a desktop application with Flash Builder for Force.com – Part 2: Create the basic application

In this tutorial, you use Flash Builder for Force.com to create the simplest Force.com Flex application possible—one that has login functionality but nothing else; no content and no display of any salesforce.com data. You add functionality that retrieves and displays salesforce.com data in Part 3 of this tutorial series.

In this tutorial, you will:

  • Create a Force.com Stratus project that uses the WSDL you generated in Part 1.
  • Review the generated files and code.
  • Add and set MXML tag attributes.
  • Compile and run an application.
  • View the automatically generated authentication dialog box and error messages.
  • Successfully log in to a Force.com Flex application.
  • Add functionality to automatically log in to an application during development.

Requirements

To complete this tutorial, you need the following:

A Force.com account with the custom Merchandise object created in Part 1 of this tutorial series:
