Building a desktop application with Flash Builder for Force.com – Part 7: Package and distribute the application

You have now built an application that retrieves, displays, and edits salesforce.com data. The last step is to package and distribute the application to users so they can install the application as a desktop application.

In this tutorial, you will:

  • Package the application as an AIR file.
  • Use the AIR runtime to install the application as a desktop application.
  • Post the application to a web server.
  • Create a badge installer which provides a seamless install experience for the user.
  • Add the ability for the application to be updated using the Adobe update framework.
  • Post an XML configuration file and an updated version of the application on a web server and then step through the end user process of updating the application.

Requirements

To complete this tutorial, you need the following:

A web server

A Force.com account with the custom Merchandise object created in Part 1 of this tutorial series:
