MPSB05-09 Security Patch for Insufficient Validation in Flash Communication Server

Summary
Flash Communication Server MX does not sufficiently validate some RTMP data. This can cause server instability or crashes.
Solution
Macromedia has released an update patch that can be downloaded and installed on the server.

Details
The vulnerability that causes server instability is known to be triggered by a single alpha release build of Flash Player 8.5 (build 133). The update patch fixes this issue by preventing the server from entering an unstable state.
Making the Changes
NOTE: Back up your existing files before making changes. As always, test the changes in a non-production environment before applying the changes to production servers.
- Download the Flash Communication Server Updater Release 3.
- Install Flash Communication Server Updater Release 3 following the installation procedures defined within the readme file included in the patch.
