About the designers

Design Team ADAA 2006 is comprised of finalists and winners from the 2006 competition. The concept arrived from collaboration that involved eight people, from four different countries. Their distinct backgrounds and perspectives led to the unique concept “Going Places” for ADAA 2007. Personal experiences from the competition, ceremony, and trips to new places, all proved to be inspirational tools. Design Team ADAA 2006 drew upon these experiences while creating the concept of going into the journey of ADAA 2007.

Design Team ADAA 2006 collaborators, in alphabetical order:

"We wanted to remark on the ADAA experience as a voyage. The title, Going Places, refers to the literal meaning of travel as well as arriving at unique destinations personally, professionally, and creatively."

- Amy Wang and Sam Smelter

The Design Team ADAA 2006 remarks on their collaborative inspiration:

"What makes the ADAA competition different from so many other competitions is how much more rewarding the experience is. With ADAA, it's even more than going somewhere new — it's traveling, it's meeting people from different parts of the world, it's the first time you see a new place...Our eyes were opened to different ways of thinking about the dynamics of good design. We exchanged ideas with others from around the world. We came to understand more about our own disciplines. We not only participated in the ADAA competition, but we went on an adventure!"
