Computer art student Scott Blake won a first-place award with his entry, Code 128/Jesus/Book of Revelation, which uses words from the Book of Revelation that were converted by a bar code font to paint a portrait of Jesus. The piece won Most Creative Digital Painting in the illustration category. "The award was great exposure for me," said Blake. "It was the first opportunity for me to show my work outside Savannah. The counter on my website jumped by 500 visits the week after the winners were announced."
Exposure wasn't the only reward that Blake earned in the contest. "The process of putting my entry together and working with a deadline on a project this important was a great learning experience. I would encourage any student to enter," he said.
For Blake, the best part of the contest was the competition. "Out of all the contests I could find for computer art, this was the only one open to just students. It was really special to be competing against my peers," he said.
