2003 CalArts Practicum Lecture Poster Series

Objective: Practicum is a series of lectures and workshops at California Institute of the Arts. The initial idea was to make one poster with all artists’ lecture information. Because the school did not have a complete lecture schedule, we decided to save a calculated number of posters and overprint the new lecturers on to the previous ones. The posters shifted between a vertical and horizontal format in a clockwise direction to indicate time. We decided to cross out the previous artist to question the taboos between art and design.

Tools used: We chose to use Adobe® Illustrator® to manipulate type and vector art. We like to use the transparency effects to simulate the actual silkscreen overprint.
