Chiedozie Ukachukwu
Parsons School of Design
Collectors
Biography: Born and raised in New York City to Nigerian immigrants, Chiedozie was limited in his knowledge of the arts community due to his family background. It was only when he botched a music course in high school, that he undertook an interest in photography. Success in high school prompted Chiedozie to pursue photography further and enroll at Parsons School of Design. Following the completion of his degree, Chiedozie was accepted into the Bio-Medical photography program at Rochester Institute of Technology.
Objective: This series consists of people with peculiar collections. Generally, when people imagine a collector, most envision a person who collects baseball cards, Star Wars figurines, or perhaps merchandise of prevalent pop icons. However, with this project, my intention is to present subjects with unanticipated or common collections that one would not conceive.
Tools used: Adobe® Photoshop® was an indispensable element of the post-production process. Utilizing the curves adjustments, as well as brightness and contrast features, I was able to achieve the saturated characteristics that enhance the colors within the photographs.
