Firefox Ad
Biography: Eric is a broadcast design student at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia. His interest in motion graphics stemmed from his involvement with graphic design, graffiti, movies, and music production. He was originally a graphic design student who worked for sign companies. He later got a job working for a news graphics company in Clearwater, Florida called VDO. While working there, he saw the potential for combining his interests into a single art form. This led to his enrollment at SCAD. Eric is now a senior and currently interning at the motion graphics company Fad in Seattle, Washington.
Objective: I chose Firefox because of the recent hype surrounding its release and the rarity of TV commercials that advertise for web browsers. I decided to create a motion graphic based on words that I felt describe Firefox. These words are power, simplicity, safety, and flexibility. The motion graphic is made up of scenes that go along with the theme of each word. In addition, the same character inhabits each scene. This character represents the user.
Tools used: When creating this ad I primarily used Adobe products. The only part of the process that involved anything but Adobe products was shooting the character and the photos. In addition, a small portion of the simplicity scene was created using Maya. However, the elements that were imported into Maya were created in Adobe® Illustrator®. For the rest of the project I used Adobe Photoshop® to treat the images, Illustrator to create the type and other vector elements, and Adobe After Effects® to design, stylize, composite, and animate.
