Environmental Graphics: Finalist

Biography: Jens Kretschmer was born in Filderstadt, near Stuttgart, Germany, in 1979. After graduating from school in 1999, he began studying architecture and urban planning at the University of Stuttgart. During his studies, he worked for a number of architectural firms, focusing on participating in design contests. Apart from his studies, he is also currently working as a research assistant to Professor Arch. D.I. Franziska Ullmann, with the Institute of Interior Design.

Objective: Student design that showcases the faculty of architecture of the University of Stuttgart at Deutsches Architekturmuseum in Frankfurt, Germany. The design establishes interdisciplinary relations between individual projects and research focuses that had previously not been transparent to the faculty or the public.

Tools used: All student data (images, vector graphics, etc.) were processed using Adobe® Photoshop®. Adobe InDesign® was used to layout and design the flags at actual size (90 by 277.9 cm = 35.4 by 109.4 in). The files were prepared for print output with Adobe Acrobat® Distiller software.
