Artist's Statement: I view this series of prints more as paintings than as photographs. This series is my attempt to comment on the borderline between abstraction and reality. All of these prints are digital images of real objects and situations. The image is distanced from reality so that it becomes more about light, color and form than about representing the object. None of the images, even those that appear most abstract, were achieved through intensive digital editing. In some images, the distance from reality is achieved by focusing on a small part of the real object. In others, it is achieved by digitally altering the colors in small increments or by blurring the image somewhat more than it appeared in the original photographs. Most of all, these photographs are my attempt to capture the attention of the viewer by presenting a pleasing but ambiguous image.
