The Letter Gallery ‘X’

Artist's Statement: This entry was created for promoting the letter gallery "X" as a format for postcards, and represents how a letter is similar with the figure of a human being. The diverse characteristic of a the letter can carry out that of a person. Humans have the same figure as a letter "X" but with different personalities. Diversity simultaneously illustrates unity. Hence, audiences may identify themselves through those letters. It may make them feel close to and approach easily the letter gallery "X."

The first step in creating the images was to take pictures of the letter x, which exists everywhere; in shadows, on the ground, on walls, with ladders, etc. They were retouched with Photoshop® to achieve the appropriate colors and size.

The logo of the Letter Gallery "X" was created in Illustrator®. It's circle represents the unity of various objects. It's two crossed lines also demonstrate unification.

The back of the postcards were designed dynamically with angled texts and lines with Illustrator. They are reflecting the dynamism of x, so all elements are harmonized as one strong composition.
