Dr. Anthony "Skip" Basiel is a Senior Lecturer at Kings College, London, UK. He also does eLearning consulting with Howarth Associates, UK. He was formerly a Senior Postgraduate Programme Leader at the Institute for Work-Based Learning and an eLearning researcher at Middlesex University, London, England, where he earned his doctorate.
He has published more than 55 papers, articles, and book chapters since 1996 based on his international research. Basiel has been a keynote speaker at several international eLearning conferences. He is currently co-editing the second edition of the Routledge Press Book, ‚”Teaching and Learning Online” to be published in 2013.
In 2004, Basiel was honored as eTutor of the Year by the Higher Education Academy-UK and also received recognition by the UK E-Learning Network. His eLearning research enables him to work with transnational partners in European higher education as well as with private organizations, corporate trainers, and government agencies. A prime example is the British Council-CEDEFOP study, hosted by Middlesex University in 2004. His current eLearning research focus concerns professional social networks, new media learning design, videoconferencing on the web, and related supportive technologies.
