"We are all surfers on the waves of change, and here at Full Sail the surf's always up! How we deal with the constant changes will define the successes or failures of our students."
Bill Galbreath, program director for the Arts and Design degree programs at Full Sail University, has been involved with the graphic arts since 1975 and digital content creation since 1991, when he started a design firm in Winter Park, Florida. While working with clients ranging from small local businesses to large international firms, he discovered that achievements in the digital arts industry were a function of proficiency in communication. Using available digital tools, he began developing branding for companies by visually chronicling the company’s story and not concentrating solely on design.
After being impressed by Full Sail graduates' work and hiring four Full Sail grads for his firm, Galbreath became intrigued with the unique nature of the school. This led to a move to join the faculty there in February 2000. He was honored with an Excellence in Teaching award for his department in 2001 and 2003, winning the prestigious Top Gun award for Excellence in Teaching for Full Sail in 2002. In 2004, while attaining an Education Master's in Instructional Technology, he became the program director for Arts and Design. He is a self-described “curriculum geek” and continues to work creating new programs at Full Sail. Galbreath introduced Macromedia® Breeze® into the school in 2004 and had the first program at Full Sail University to put all the learning materials online for students to access.
