Chris Jackson is an author, artist, designer, and tenured professor at Rochester Institute of Technology. He is also the graduate coordinator for the Computer Graphics Design MFA program. He currently teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in interactive design and development for applied computer graphics, 2D computer animation, and motion graphics.
He has developed and taught over 20 courses in his 10 years as an RIT faculty member, instructing on topics including narrative design, kinetic typography, rich Internet applications, and eLearning design and development. His graduate students have had their work published in Communication Arts and HOW magazine, and online at Adobe and SIGGRAPH. In 2010, Jackson became a lifetime member of the Montclair Who's Who in Collegiate Faculty.
Before joining the RIT faculty, Jackson was an interactive and eLearning designer with Eastman KODAK Company. His professional work at KODAK has received more than 25 distinguished national and international awards for online communication. He has presented various design workshops at national and international conferences.
Jackson's areas of research include user experience design, 2D character animation, digital storytelling, and interactive design for children. He continues to publish and present his research and professional work at Adobe MAX, ACM SIGGRAPH, TypeCon, UCDA Design Education Summit, and the Society for Technical Communication. He continues to work as an animator, designer, developer, and consultant for worldwide corporations and nonprofit organizations. He also lectures and conducts workshops relating to interactive design and animation for the Adobe® Flash® and After Effects® environments.
