Ed De Reuver is a teacher, counselor, and mentor for desktop publishing students at the Grafisch Lyceum Rotterdam. He gained the expertise he shares with his students by learning to lay out classified documents in a traditional government print shop. After four years there, he moved to a private firm and became one of the world's first desktop publishers. In 1988, Grafisch Lyceum Rotterdam tapped him to teach prepress skills, and many of the professionals working in the field are his former students. From 1995 to 2005, De Reuver taught at the school while running his own advertising agency.
Today, De Reuver teaches desktop publishing and packaging design. He is one of the authors of Examwork DTP, the test Dutch students take to enter the design industry. Not surprisingly, his students routinely score very high on this state exam. In 2009, when Rotterdam was the European Youth Capitol, his students supported the project by creating the YourWorld09 Magazine.
In his spare time, De Reuver is a soccer coach and photographer. He lives about 500 meters from the sea and likes walking with his dog by the shore, reading, working in his garden, and fishing.
