Dr. Gregoire Cliquet directs the laboratory of Experimental Applied Research in interaction Design (READi) at L'Ecole de design Nantes Atlantique. He is responsible for two masters programs: Tangible Interfaces (object + service) and Design & Virtual Reality.
Gregoire studied computer graphics and multimedia and worked for various print industries and web agencies. He specialized early in real time 3D technologies and started to teach VRML. He participated in such real time 3D and Virtual Reality exhibitions as Laval Virtual (France), Siggraph/Emerging Technologies (USA), and IVRC (Japan). He later completed a PhD in Engineering Science on Methods of innovation in the Era of Web 2.0 and directed many projects in partnership with Orange, Dassault Systems, Technicolor, and others.
Gregoire is particulary interested in Information Visualization and especially in "datatainment": a portmanteau word (he created), to define the field of his research, combining “data” and “tainment,” which refers to a new way of representing digital data related to the activities of individuals within the information world. Datatainment is a concept that implements the transposition of a community’s information-related activities to real 3D amusement-oriented environments by personalizing information.
