"Never give up! If you believe it is the right way, do it with faith. And you will be there."
Helen Wai-ping Wong earned her bachelor's degree from Simon Fraser University in Canada. She started her vocational teaching career at the Hong Kong Design Institute after pursuing her master's degree in Internet Computing and E-commerce at the University of Hong Kong in 2000. Before that, she worked at HSBC both in Canada and Hong Kong as a senior systems analyst to support the banking system.
Wong teaches robotic programming, interactive scripting, web design, and integrative projects. Being the digital media design course leader, she has also organized many extracurricular activities for her students to expand their world vision and soft skills, such as the cultural exchange program with University in China and Technical Institute in Singapore. Her students have also received international recognition. One of her students was invited to give a speech at the symposium of International New Designer Workshop in Nagoya, Japan, to share her design concept.
In the past few years, Wong has been appointed a team member of the HKDI Curriculum Development Team. She contributes her professional knowledge in digital media to new course development.
Wong believes that creativity, design skills, and cultural elements are the fundamental and inevitable training areas for digital media students. Understanding the importance of interactivity in media design, she introduces new media technologies and user experience design in the course curriculum.
Wong is an Apple Distinguished Educator, Apple Certified Trainer, and senior member of the Institute of Print-Media Professionals in Hong Kong.
