“Can anything be sadder than work left unfinished? Yes, work never begun.”
— Christina Rossetti
Maybelle Peters is a technical instructor who works with postgraduate students in the School of Communication at the Royal College of Art. She supports student teaching and learning in video software, providing advice and training on best practices and digital workflow.
She studied animation initially and received commissions to make short animated films. Then a chance encounter with an Apple Mac opened up a whole new world of computing and multimedia, resulting in a master's in digital art and specialist knowledge in video encoding. The training she gives ranges from fundamental skills through advanced programming and tips for more complex projects. Some of the projects her students are currently involved with include multiplatform, interactive, and installation video work.
Peters works with a range of disciplines including graphic design, film, video, and interactive media and produces learning materials, workshops, and tutorials using After Effects and Adobe Premiere Pro. She often uses examples of work from previous students as well as her own work to demystify the myriad processes that can be used.
