Thor Anderson teaches in the Digital Media Department at Utah Valley University and is Director of the Center for Digital Design and Development, where UVU students do creative design and development work for industry clients. He teaches web development courses that focus on rich Internet application (IRA) development. In particular, he teaches students how to leverage Adobe® Flash® Builder® software, Flex, ActionScript® 3.0, JavaScript, and PHP to build rich, interactive, online experiences.
Anderson served as principal investigator on a National Science Foundation grant designed to provide Navajo youth with the relevant skills and certification required to enter the digital economy. He was named a recipient of Certiport's Champions of Digital Literacy Award for this work. He is currently lead instructional developer on a U.S. Department of Labor grant aimed at teaching introductory mechatronics through online course materials developed using Flex.
When not teaching, Anderson works with his company, Learning Components, Inc., to develop online learning tools based on Flex and Adobe AIR® technologies.
