"If you make things simple then you make complexity possible."
— Ian Jukes
Brett Kent teaches ICT at Hilltop Road Public School. He started his career as a professional studio photographer and worked in many areas of the photographic industry. Kent continues to work with photography, both with his students and on a personal level. He began teaching in 2008 and has since become the school ICT coordinator.
Kent works with students mostly using Adobe® Photoshop® and Adobe Premiere® to create projects that allow them to problem solve in a creative and innovative manner. His students have worked on project-based learning tasks that deal with the concepts surrounding digital citizenship. They have created short films using Adobe Premiere based on criteria outlined for a film festival and augmented reality using Photoshop. Kent is teaching these high-end design and computer skills to students at a young age, so by the time they reach grade 11 or 12 they can create and problem solve with success, using the best software in the industry.
