"Put your heart into your efforts, let that heart show, and it will always be more meaninful and more memorable. Pride and heart really do make a difference!"
Brian Reedy has been teaching since 1995. In 1999 he began teaching video production, and in 2008 he began teaching digital photography. Prior to teaching, he majored in photography in college and worked in the industry as well. In addition to ensuring that his students gain awareness and eventually mastery of technical skills using the right technical tools, he encourages them to incorporate meaningful messages into their creations. He feels that if the content is insignificant, there is no real purpose for all the efforts. In 2007 Reedy helped to write the Nevada State Skill Standards for Digital Video and Broadcast Production.
Reedy encourages his students to partipate in SkillsUSA. In 2002 some of his video production students won a first-place award in Nevada and placed ninth in the country. In 2007 his students placed first in Nevada and went on to win silver medals at the SkillsUSA National Conference. He also has a chapter of the Student Television Network (STN) at Carson High School. Reedy organizes Adobe's and Hewlett-Packard's support for STN's national convention each year.
His students do community service projects, every year, usually around the theme of safe and drug-free schools. In 2005 and 2006 his students placed in the top ten in the country for driver awareness videos for Project Ignition and State Farm. Reedy has also been recognized with numerous teaching awards.
