C David Schneider leads a talented group of students at the Center for Advanced Technologies (CAT), a magnet school at Lakewood High School in St Petersburg, Florida. CATCOM students use a multicamera television studio, adjacent control room, and graphics and edit suites to produce live daily broadcasts, video features, and more. CATCOM students also produce the award-winning FOX 13 Magazine, a student-produced television news magazine that airs each Saturday on WTVT FOX 13 in Tampa Bay. The 3D and 2D animation students along with feature reporters continue to win numerous awards and rank top in the state of Florida and nation. Team Audio in CATCOM creates original music for the television shows "Fast Forward," "FOX 13 Magazine," and numerous other projects.
Schneider graduated with a BA in Communications from Spring Arbor University, worked in corporate communications for a Fortune 500 company, owned his own video production company, and managed radio and television stations in the United States and Puerto Rico.
After producing award-winning documentaries in Central Africa and Central America, Schneider earned his MBA and took his 12 years of professional communication experience to the classroom.
Schneider provides ongoing professional development in podcasting; Web 2.0; and Adobe® Premiere®, After Effects®, and Acrobat® software. He conducts conference sessions for FETC, Student Television Network, and Florida Scholastic Press Association. He also assists in organizing and administering summer teaching and learning institutes statewide.
As a Florida Master Digital Educator, he works for the Florida Center for Instructional Technology at the University of South Florida. The Florida Digital Educator program supports integration of technology across the K-12 curriculums through collaborative experiences with new technologies and digital tools.
