"Less Us, More Them"
— Dr. Gary Stager
Chris Harris is a deputy principal and K–12 ICT consultant for the New South Wales Department of Education and Communities. He has been a teacher for over 30 years, the last 15 as a computing studies teacher. He has a passion for sharing the amazing way Adobe software can transform teaching and learning and engage otherwise disengaged students.
Harris has taught mainly in disadvantaged areas of Western and South Western Sydney where a lot of students do not have access to computers at home, let alone software that gives them opportunities to express themselves. His greatest joy is in seeing the faces of students when they proudly display their creative work.
Currently he works with teachers in these same areas, sharing ideas and training them on Adobe products. His latest project is a series of workshops entitled "Stepping Into Adobe" that is geared towards absolute beginners in order to encourage teachers to explore the potential of Adobe® Creative Suite® in their classrooms.
His "spare time" is spent keeping up to date with technology, specifically as it can be applied to the classroom. He represents those lacking in creative talent but who don't let that stand in their way of having a go.
