Daniel Rattigan is the Computing Studies head teacher at Sydney Distance Education High School (SDEHS). The faculty in his department are leaders in the delivery of eLearning. All Computing Studies courses at SDEHS are delivered online through a Moodle learning management system. Courses integrate Adobe® Captivate®, Adobe Connect™, and Acrobat® to provide engaging media rich content for students. Throughout Years 9 to 12, students learn a range of Adobe Creative Suite® products within project-based courses.
Rattigan leads the New South Wales Distance Education Computing Studies Network. This consists of teachers across four distance education high schools. The network works collaboratively on the design and writing of courses. He is currently completing his Master of Education with a focus on eLearning at UTS, Sydney.
He is a recipient of the New South Wales' Premier's Adobe Information and Communication Technologies Scholarship. His five-week study tour investigated how U.S. and Canadian virtual high schools engage their students and maintain that engagement through course and learning activity design. The tour included a visit to Adobe Headquarters in San Jose, California.
Rattigan is enthusiastic about the possibilities Adobe products provide for connecting with students in the distance education environment and their creative potential for developing higher order thinking skills.
