David Gran is an art educator who has taught at Huntington High School in New York, the Institute for Collaborative Education in Manhattan, and the Harlem School for the Arts. Currently, he teaches with his wife Kim at the Shanghai American School in China.
Gran spent the first two years at SAS as a technology integration specialist at the elementary school. Since then, he has returned to teaching art at the high school. Focusing on developing a video and film program as well as teaching foundation art and International Baccalaureate classes, Gran likes to keep one foot in the digital world and one foot in the messy world of paint and clay. Outside the classroom, he has created and collaborated on a number of international collaborative projects, is an organizer of Shanghai's Learning 2.0 conference, and is founder of the Shanghai Student Film Festival.
Recently, Gran has learned to unplug when he gets home, thanks to the mentorship of his one-year-old daughter, Amaya. In addition to being an Adobe Education Leader, he is a National Board Certified Teacher and Apple Distinguished Educator. He also has been using Adobe® Photoshop® software since its icon was a little shop for photos. He is sure that counts for something.
