Doug Loader is an experienced and patient educator, who loves working with students and teachers. He works as a Technology Integration Specialist at Santa Maria College in Western Australia, a flagship school for Labor’s Digital Education Revolution. He ensures that the teachers are both well trained and well informed on modern technologies that can enhance their teaching environments. Doug helps maintain his school as a forerunner in 21st Century education by enabling staff to better engage students, parents, and the community through many digital media, including the school website. He works closely with each learning area to develop a diverse curriculum that leverages modern and accessible tools.
His research can be found on his informative blog. It also offers examples of the importance of Digital Citizenship, and shows how Doug guided students and parents on issues of online safety.
His goal is to provide solutions for teachers, and he prides himself on creating simple and informative software use guides including Adobe tools and their relevance to education. Doug’s articles have often been featured in national education magazines and he now writes for Education Today magazine as the Technology Editor.
Originally from London, Doug worked with Apple Education to provide training and support to over 40 UK universities. Apple recently acknowledged him as an Apple Distinguished Educator.
Doug now also offers Professional Development activities to schools and teachers throughout Western Australia as a freelancer.
In his spare time he plays in a band and loves to practice audio engineering. He also designs web graphics and web sites.
