Drew Mayhills teaches English at Applecross Senior High School in Perth, Western Australia. In 2012, he was recognized as a Beginning Teacher of the Year in the Department of Education WA Education Awards. Mayhills has since received scholarships from the Sangora Education Foundation and Australian Literacy Educators’ Association for his use of educational technologies in the classroom. He has worked in a variety of educational contexts outside of secondary school, including tertiary education and disability care.
Mayhills is one of several staff involved in a pilot program at Applecross Senior High School seeking to successfully implement iPads and related educational applications into the context of the English classroom. He has presented on educational technologies in a variety of settings in Western Australia and overseas. In April 2013, he presented a research project at the Asian Conference on Technology in the Classroom in Osaka, Japan.
Mayhills collaborates regularly with fellow Adobe Education Leader Matt Docherty to co-deliver professional learning to Western Australian educators interested in introducing technology into their classrooms. His research interests include enhancing productivity through the use of technology and training teachers to purposefully integrate educational technology in order to enhance teaching and learning.
