Grant Ward is the Digital Education Revolution (NSW) project officer for the Hunter Central Coast Region. In this capacity, he has been working with teachers and students to successfully implement the DERNSW 1:1 laptop program in more than 50 secondary schools in the region. A major focus of this role has been providing teachers with tailored professional development in software applications.
As a classroom teacher for more than 15 years, Ward has worked to find new ways of engaging students by developing digital curriculum. He has extensive knowledge of Adobe® Acrobat® and has been using this software for the delivery of digital portfolios of work to students in social science subjects, particularly geography.
In 2008, he took a year away from the classroom to work in private industry as an education consultant for Electroboard. In this role, he supported teachers in the use of SMART products, in particular SMART Board and SMART Notebook.
Ward is passionate about engaging educators in 21st century learning skills that improve the outcomes of all students in classrooms.
He has presented at a wide variety of technology conferences across New South Wales and is well known for “Laptop Essentials,” a set of tutorials that focus on practical applications of technology in the classroom to complement good-quality pedagogy.
