Henrietta Miller, accredited last year as an ISTAA Experienced teacher, is a stage three teacher at Roseville College a K-12 Anglican girl’s school in Sydney. She believes that for students to be digitally literate in the 21st century they need to be connected to other students via the World Wide Web. In 2011 her class blog http://year5rc.edublogs.org received over 15,000 visitors. In 2012, she introduced class and student blogging to the whole junior school at Roseville College. She currently teaches Year 6 and its blog can be found at http://year6rc.edublogs.org.
Henrietta regularly speaks at conferences and workshops about the way she has created a student-centered classroom. She presented ”Preparing your students for their future not your past, through the integration of Web 2.0 tools with particular reference to edmodo and student blogging” at the 2011 IWB Net Conference. She also spoke on the topic, “From Twitter to Techie Brekkies to Teachmeets” at the 2012 ACEC12 Conference. Henrietta is an active member of the Sydney TeachMeet team and held the first Sydney TeachMeet in April 2011in her own classroom. She assists and promotes TeachMeets and Techie Brekkies both at Roseville College and in the wider community as a means of engaging teachers in their own professional development.
