Kurt Klynen started his career as a primary teacher. He loves working with audio, video, animation, images, gaming, and finding ways to share the results, and the last five years he worked as an ICT and media teacher trainer at GO! Nascholing.
Recently he moved to the Katholieke Hogeschool Mechelen, where he supports future teachers and participates in various ICT projects. Ever intrigued by new media and ICT, he founded ICT Atelier in 2009 with one mission: to generate enthusiasm for the creative use of ICT and new media in education. He hoped to provide 10 workshops throughout the year, but spent 107 days in training and reached more than 1,050 teachers.
To meet the high demand, he opened the first Creative Learning Center (CLC) in Belgium and has already trained as many teachers as in the prior year in just the first semester. Based on the British City Learning Centres, the CLC is a place teachers can go for practical workshops and sessions on ICT and new media integration into their lessons.
In the 2010–11 school year, he created the new course "Creative with ICT" for a secondary school in Tienen, where he is based. Klynen also frequently works on a mobile basis throughout Europe.
