Megan Townes works as an IT Integrator at Abbotsleigh School for Girls, interacting with teachers, departments and students, to effectively incorporate technology across the curriculum. She uses Adobe Premiere Elements regularly with students including when they develop their own documentaries as part of the English curriculum, when they create television commercials for health campaigns in PDHPE and when investigating time-lapse photography in Science. Megan uses Adobe Acrobat with teachers to help them operate a paperless classroom so that they can mark work digitally and students can submit their work as Adobe portfolios.
She originally trained and worked as a primary teacher in Sydney's Western Suburbs. After working for 12 months as a casual PDHPE (Physical Education) teacher on the New South Wales North Coast, however, she discovered her passion for working with older students. Megan then taught English and Computing in a Hawkesbury high school, where she implemented the Digital Education Revolution across the school. She additionally provided professional development workshops throughout the region supporting teachers in integrating information technologies into their teaching practice.
Megan is an active committee member of her sons’ local rugby league club and can often be found working the canteen or taking photos for the clubs’ social media pages and website. She enjoys camping with her family and particularly dirt-bike riding with her husband and daughter.
