As a regional local assistive technology specialist (LATS), Nancy Parker works with a half-dozen Florida school districts to help disabled and special-needs students take advantage of the assistive technology that can help ensure they receive a Free Appropriate Public Education. She brings to her position more than 30 years of education and technology experience, including 15 years teaching digital design, digital video, web design, and business applications to middle school students and two years as an elementary school technology facilitator.
In addition, Parker presents workshops and teacher training on Adobe® Acrobat®, Dreamweaver®, and Fireworks® software, plus many other teacher productivity and assistive technology applications, at international, national, state, and local conferences.
Parker has been awarded the Superintendent’s Award for Excellence in Education (for creating and implementing outstanding technology-rich, project-based learning curriculums) as well as grants from the Michael Jordan Foundation, the Coalition Against Tobacco, and the Economic Development Council. She is an active member of the International Society for Technology in Education and Florida Association of Computers in Education.
Parker holds an MS in Computer Science and is certified to teach computer science to K-12 students.
