"It’s all about the students."
Tim Stack trains teachers and handles administrative duties for the Utah Education Network (UEN), which provides Internet connectivity, resources, and technology training to Utah educators. He trains on such topics as digital cameras in the classroom, podcasting, blogging, digital video, and Macromedia® Studio 8 software. And as a member of UEN’s Professional Development department, Stack coordinates the Web Academy, which provides courses and support for educators seeking to create an online presence for their district, school, or classroom. The UEN Professional Development department conducts technology integration training for more than 18,000 Utah educators each year.
To give exemplary Utah teachers the recognition they deserve, Stack created and now manages a podcast called “UEN Teacher Feature.” He also leads his department in a weekly 30-minute Adobe® Connect™ broadcast, named the “UEN Faculty Lounge,” designed to help teachers keep up with emerging technologies. He is always trying to learn new stuff on the computer.
Stack is nearing the end of a journey to a Master’s degree in Instructional Design and Educational Technology. He is also receiving on-the-job training for changing diapers at 3am, pulling two trailers behind his bike (everywhere is uphill in Salt Lake City), and playing endless games of Twister with kids under the age of five.
