Vincent Albanese is Assistant Principal at Smithfield Public School in South West Sydney Region. He is an active member of the DEC Yammer community and a regular Twitter communicator.
Vincent creates professional learning opportunities for his team and staff ensuring that Information and Communications Technology (ICT) is integrated effectively across K-6 grades in his school. With over 20 years experience in Primary education, Vincent has looked closely at how ICT that can help make learning meaningful and engaging. In 2008, he worked closely with the BlogEd development team on the consultative committee to design a blogging tool for New South Wales Department of Education and Community teachers. His own blog, s3blogspot.net, caters to 150 year-5 and -6 students. He regularly updates it, keeping his students engaged in curriculum and learning in the 21st Century.
From 2000-2003 Vincent ran his own publishing business, Lime Leaf Publications, publishing educational resources and typesetting books for local authors. This activity gave him a deeper understanding of the “print” process from start to finish and a firmer understanding of how the Adobe Creative Suite works as one.
Since 2010, Vincent has worked closely with the New South Wales Primary Principals Association in developing their annual conference materials. This includes the creating certificates, a 40-page color booklet, numerous conference banners, the awards program, labels, and pocket programs using Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and Acrobat to bring it all together.
