Eligibility for education purchasing

See if you or your institution is eligible for low education prices. Read the following requirements for the United States and Canada.

Individuals

Adobe Student Editions — for higher education students only

Adobe Student Editions are full versions of the latest industry-standard software from Adobe priced at a huge discount for higher education students. A higher education student is defined as a full- or part-time student enrolled at an accredited public or private university or college (including community, junior, or vocational college) that grants degrees requiring not less than the equivalent of two years of full-time study.

Student Editions are available through the Education Store on Adobe.com or through an Adobe Authorized Education Reseller. Students may purchase only one license of any Adobe Student Edition product for use only on their privately owned computer. Student Edition products may not be resold.

Academic purchases by individuals — eligibility

Qualified examples

Qualified individuals are those who buy academic software licenses for their personal use only and who have presented to Adobe or a reseller appropriate identification of current status as one of the following:

  • A student enrolled at an accredited public or private primary or secondary school providing full-time instruction for grades K–121
  • A full- or part-time student enrolled at a higher education institution defined as an accredited public or private university or college (including community, junior, or vocational college) that grants degrees requiring not less than the equivalent of two years of full-time study1
  • A full- or part-time faculty or staff member employed by an accredited K–12 or higher education institution1
  • Other qualified examples as listed by Adobe from time to time on its website or in other written communication

Unqualified examples

  • Students, faculty, and staff at unaccredited K–12 or higher education schools
  • Students, faculty, and staff enrolled or employed by certain named educational entities, including hospitals, higher education research laboratories, educational consortiums, and other examples that may be listed by Adobe from time to time on its website or in other written communication
  • Other unqualified examples as listed by Adobe from time to time on its website

Appropriate identification for academic purchases, including Student Editions

Adobe requires resellers to authenticate qualified buyers of education products according to the following policies. This information is part of the signed agreement between Adobe and the reseller. Adobe also requires ID for purchases through the Adobe Education Store.

Appropriate identification for individuals means any of the following:

  • Clear, readable copies of the following documents: A current, valid photo ID and evidence of current enrollment at or employment by an educational entity (such as a school photo ID card that includes date validating current status)
  • School photo ID or driver's license or other official photo identification with corroborating evidence, including but not limited to: faculty or staff paycheck stub; student course schedule or tuition bill with a valid date, printed with the educational entity logo or seal; official letter from the registrar of the educational entity
  • For K–12 students only: When appropriate identification is not available, an official letter from a teacher at the educational entity verifying the student's right to order academic software
  • Other identification as permitted by Adobe from time to time by posting a list of such appropriate identification on its website

Identification will be considered valid for one year from the date the ID was furnished to the reseller, or, if applicable, until the expected graduation date of the individual, whichever is sooner.

Accredited schools are those that are approved by an association recognized by the U.S. Department of Education/State Board of Education or the Canadian/Provincial Ministries of Education and that teach students as their primary focus. In the U.S., such associations include: Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, New England Association of Schools and Colleges, Northwest Association of Accredited Schools.^

Qualified examples

  • Accredited public or private primary or secondary schools providing full-time instruction for grades K–12 or school districts for such schools1
  • Accredited public or private universities or colleges (including community, junior, or vocational colleges) that grant degrees requiring not less than the equivalent of two years of full-time study1
  • School administrative offices or boards of education
  • Home schools approved by Adobe
  • Government schools in U.S. or Canadian territories
  • Named educational entities approved in writing by Adobe
  • Hospitals in the U.S. that are wholly owned and operated by an educational institution, meaning the institution is the sole owner of the hospital and the only entity exercising control over day-to-day operations
  • Higher education research laboratories that are public institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Canadian/Provincial Ministries of Education, teach students, and can provide a copy of bylaws that state the relationship with the controlling university
  • Other qualified examples as listed by Adobe from time to time on its website

Unqualified examples

  • Nonaccredited schools and religious organizations
  • Museums
  • Churches
  • Libraries
  • Hospitals in Canada
  • Training centers or schools granting certificates for courses such as computer software training, including, without limitation: Ziff Davis University, Learning Tree University, New Horizon Computer Learning Center, Teacher Training Centers
  • Military schools that do not grant academic degrees
  • Research laboratories not recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or the Canadian/Provincial Ministries of Education. For example, institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Defense or Energy or the National Research Council Canada are not eligible. In addition, laboratories in the U.S. defined as Federally Funded Research and Development Centers (FFRDCs) and University Affiliated Research Centers (UARCs) are not eligible. Examples include: Los Alamos National Laboratory, Sandia National Laboratory, and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.
  • Other unqualified examples as listed by Adobe from time to time on its website
