Full Day Hands-On Training

Monday, October 23, 2006
9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Architecting ColdFusion Applications for Performance, Scalability, and Maintainability

How do you build an application that scales? What exactly is scalability, anyway? Learn about common scalability and performance problems, and how to solve them, in this session. We'll cover architectural choices that make maintenance easier, optimizing database access to make your queries faster, and optimizing the runtime performance of your CF application code.

Developing Rich Mobile Content for Flash Lite

In this one-day hands-on training class, you will get practical experience using Flash Lite 2.0 to build a fully functional, and well architected mobile application. Topics include understanding mobile device capabilities,  deploying Flash Lite content on Verizon and BREW, using XML sockets, using text and fonts in mobile content, , building navigation systems, using the FSCommand2 statement, using dynamic data, and testing and deploying Flash Lite content.

Building a Rich Internet Application with Flex 2 and Java

In this one-day, hands-on training class, learn to build a rich Internet application with Flex 2. Create MXML documents using MXML (the Flex markup language) and the ActionScript language to define what objects (text, images, and components) exist in the application, where the objects are located, and how the objects interact with the user, as well as other client-side and server-side logic. Specifically, you will learn how to create interfaces using Flex controls and containers, how to handle user and system events, how to define data models which enable the use of an MVC architecture, and how to retrieve data from remote XML files, web services, or server-side classes. You will also learn to properly architect your applications by dividing application functionality into separate components which define and use custom events to exchange data between MXML component instances. Flex Builder will be used as the development environment.

Building Rich Internet Applications with Flex and Cold Fusion

In this one-day, hands-on training class, learn to build a rich Internet application with Flex 2 and ColdFusion. Use the powerful new features in ColdFusion 7.0.2 that enable you to create rich Internet applications easily, using Flex as the display layer and ColdFusion Components for the server-side logic. Create MXML documents using MXML (the Flex markup language) and the ActionScript language to define what objects (text, images, and components) exist in the application, where the objects are located, and how the objects interact with the user, as well as other client-side and server-side logic. Specifically, you will learn how to create interfaces using Flex controls and containers, how to handle user and system events, how to define data models which enable the use of an MVC architecture, and how to retrieve data from remote CFCs. You will also learn to properly architect your applications by dividing application functionality into separate components which define and use custom events to exchange data between MXML component instances. Flex Builder will be used as the development environment.

Custom Collaboration Building SDK

In this one-day hands-on training class, you will learn and explore the development of custom Collaboration Builder SDK Pods/Application for Acrobat Connect. Learn about this exciting new process for developing Acrobat Connect solutions that can encompass multi-user capable applications that span from e-learning content, executive data driven business applications, to multi-user games. Leveraging standard Flash development techniques and the Flash 8 IDE, you will learn about the Acrobat Connect Collaboration Builder SDK, the components it offers, and their uses for shared states applications, local testing and debugging, as well as the available processes concepts and implementation of an Acrobat Connect Collaboration Builder SDK application. Through the class you will build your own multi-user Acrobat Connect Collaboration Builder SDK application in Flash 8.
