Submit to the Exchange

Thank you for making your upload available from the Adobe Exchange. Please follow these directions to submit both new uploads and new versions of existing uploads.

Submission Instructions

  1. Develop, test, and package your upload

We recommend that you always ZIP or package your file as a ZXP/MXP to help consolidate resources and improve download time. Further, we strongly recommend that you use the Extension Manager to package extensions developed for any Adobe product that supports the Extension Manager. This will ultimately result in a smoother, more integrated experience for testing, distributing, and installing your extension with the community.

The Director Exchange currently only accepts offsite-hosted extensions and Xtras. Instead of uploading a file, please submit the URL from which your submission can be downloaded.

Creating Adobe Extension Packages (ZXP/MXP) with the Extension Manager
Certain Adobe products support building and distributing product extensions via the Extension Manager.  Within the Extension Manager, extension package files can be created to allow easy distribution and installation of your product extension. You can learn more about developing extension packages in the extensibility support center.

    To package your upload:

    • Create an Extension Information (.mxi) file. To learn more about creating Mxi files, please see the online help file for Packaging and submitting extensions using the Extension Manager.
    • With Extension Manager, you can package the file as ZXP/MXP. Note only Extension Manager CS5 and later can package the file as ZXP. Due to server constraints you must give your package a filename that is 24 characters or less, including the file extension .zxp/.mxp. The upload name given in the .mxi file will still be the name that appears on the Exchange and in the user's Extension Manager.
    • Be sure to test your extension package by installing it on your own system.
  1. Begin the submission process

    • Navigate to the Adobe Exchange and select "Upload to the Exchange" from the right navigation.
