Extending the reach of a web-based music service
Finetune extended the reach of its web-based music service by using the Adobe® Flash® Platform to build companion applications for the desktop, mobile devices, and Nintendo Wii. The desktop application seeds its recommendation engine by analyzing local data such as an iTunes library.
Why the Flash Platform worked
- Multiple operating systems and device platforms can be targeted using the same codebase.
- The Flash Platform enabled the creation of embeddable web widgets with reliable, consistent behavior.
- Streaming audio can be delivered across multiple operating systems and device platforms.
- The Flash Platform allowed the user experience to be extended to noncomputer devices such as mobile phones and Nintendo Wii.
- The ability to interact with a local file system enhances functionality.
