The Collaboration service (implemented as LiveCycle Collaboration Service) enables developers to easily add real-time collaboration and social capabilities to their applications, accelerating time to market and enhancing value.
BENEFITS
Social interaction over the web has moved beyond just e-mail and messaging with friends and family. Users now expect collaborative functionality in a wide variety of applications across business, education, and entertainment. Social games are a common example, but users increasingly require similar real-time interactivity in other areas, such as online customer service, e-learning applications, and alongside news and sports broadcasts. The Collaboration service enables developers to meet these growing customer expectations.
FEATURES
Real-time push messaging
Real-time push messaging enables developers to create their own collaboration-aware components and applications. These can range from a simple chat box to a complex collaborative application, such as a multiplayer game or e-learning or customer service application.
Pre-built components
Pre-built components such as a white board, chat window, and webcam are available for easy integration with any application.
Multimedia streaming
Multimedia streaming allows sharing of audio and video. The service also supports P2P (RTMFP) streaming, and it can adaptively move to serve multimedia content from the server if the P2P connection cannot be maintained.
User management
User management allows developers to interface with an existing authentication system, enabling them to detect and change presence, status, and roles in the context of a collaborative workflow.
