Project Details
The AOL Top 100 Videos widget features an expanded video offering, contextual content, and integrated advertising. Expanded video content includes related artist videos and special features.
"With our Adobe AIR application, we can reach communities of users with compelling, free content available from AOL," says Sun Sachs, Vice President of AOL’s interactive design and development organization. By combining easy access with great content, AOL’s new Adobe AIR application satisfies consumer demand for great content served to them the way they want it. "Adobe AIR provides huge efficiencies for us to create rich experiences that run consistently across platforms," he says.
The changing desktop landscape
With core expertise in Adobe Flash and Adobe Flex Builder, Sachs’ team finds that working in Adobe AIR is a natural fit. "We have full design and development control in Adobe AIR," Sachs says. He estimates that the efficiencies of working in Adobe Flex and Adobe AIR outpace a typical web development cycle by several months. As well, the team finds that it can leverage its web development efforts and extend them to new desktop applications through Adobe AIR.
