Print to PDF

Choose Adobe PDF as your printer.

If you know how to print a paper copy of a file, you already know how to create a PDF that looks just like your original. With Adobe® Acrobat® XI, printing to PDF is really that simple.

How to print a document to PDF

Video demo: Convert a file just by printing

Watch this short video to see how easy it is to use the Print command to create a PDF. (1:15)

"In the past it was necessary to submit the equivalent of 100 cardboard boxes full of documents to the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA), but now only a DVD is needed for the submission."

— Katsuya Tamamoto, senior manager of R&D informatics, Astellas Pharma

Just select Print to create a PDF

Instead of a physical printer, you can select Adobe PDF in almost any Windows® or Mac OS application. Hit Print. And create an electronic copy of your file that you can save to disk.

Do more with your file

More flexible than a paper printout, a file you create by printing to PDF is easy to store, search, and send to others for review.

Create PDFs from Office with Adobe's Word to PDF converter

From the Acrobat task ribbon in Office applications, Windows users can convert Microsoft Word, Excel, or PowerPoint documents to PDFs that are easy to share and reliably viewed.

What you send is what they'll see

When you use Acrobat XI to print a document to PDF, people will see it just like you sent it — whether they're viewing it on a computer, tablet, or smartphone.
