R Blank is CTO of Almer/Blank, an Adobe Solution Partner based in Venice, California, that specializes in video and application development on the Adobe Flash Platform for clients including Apple, IKEA, Mattel, Microsoft, and the House of Blues. He is also the training director at the Rich Media Institute, the Adobe Authorized Training Center that he cofounded, and serves on the faculty at the University of Southern California Viterbi School of Engineering. Previously, R founded the LA Flash Adobe User Group (AUG) which, over seven years, became the largest AUG in the world with over 3,000 registered members. He also cofounded Wildform, where he helped create Flix, the first video encoder for Flash (now owned by Google). Besides writing for the Adobe Developer Connection, R is the author/instructor of Practical ActionScript 3 and Unlocking ActionScript 3 Fluency: Events and the Broadcaster from the Rich Media Institute, lead author of AdvancED Flex applications: Building Rich Media X (Friends of ED, 2007), and author/instructor for the JumpStart Adobe Flash CS3 training DVD from Magnet Media.
