Use the Launcher SDK to detect if Digital Editions is installed, launch Digital Editions if already installed, and provision Digital Editions with a DRM fulfillment or with a content URL for direct download of unprotected PDF or EPUB content.

Content Server 4.1 and Reader Mobile 9.2 SDK now available

Adobe has released an update to our Digital Publishing Solution for eBooks, including Content Server 4.1 and Reader Mobile 9.2 SDK. With these updates, book distributors can enable “social” password-based content protection as well as text-to-speech accessibility support for eBooks. In addition, Reader Mobile SDK includes a number of rendering, font, and color management enhancements. Learn more.
Digital Editions 1.7.2 now released

Adobe has released an update to the Digital Editions client application for reading and managing eBooks. Digital Editions 1.7.2 provides compatibility for additional operating systems, including Windows 7 (32- and 64-bit) and Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard, 32- and 64-bit), in addition to other enhancements.
Reader Mobile 9.1 SDK released

Adobe has released an update to the Reader Mobile SDK, the software development kit that enables third-party developers to support PDF, EPUB and Adobe Content Server 4 protected documents on reading devices and in smartphone applications. Version 9.1 delivers improvements in performance and rendering, in addition to supporting password-protected PDF files. It simplifies the workflow for authenticating devices with Adobe Digital Editions. The Enhanced Reader Mobile SDK also supports password-protected EPUB files, including EPUB content sold by the Barnes & Noble eBookstore. Increasingly, eBook authors using InDesign want to export eBooks for reading on devices like the Amazon Kindle and selling in the Amazon store. Because Amazon uses a proprietary eBook format, InDesign users must convert their exported eBook files into an Amazon-compatible format before submission. EpubCheck
If you want to validate your EPUB files, run this Java-based tool. EpubCheck can detect many types of errors in EPUB, and checks OCF container structure, OPF and OPS mark-up, and internal reference consistency.
EpubPreflight
Use the EpubPreflight tool for checking EPUB files for:
- content files that are empty,
- content files that are over 300KB,
- image files that are empty and
- image files that are over 10MB.
EPUBGen
EPUBGen is a Java library that demonstrates EPUB generation from a variety of document formats, and which may be a useful starting point or reference code for other EPUB generation needs. There are sample Java applications are provided that illustrate the conversion of respective file types (rt2epub, word2epub, fb2epub).
