In this video tutorial, I demonstrate the basics of creating an ActionScript 3 class. An ActionScript class is simply a text file that stores code externally to the editable FLA file. Developers use classes to create organized code frameworks that can be assigned to elements within their Flash movies (SWF files) and be reused across projects. This tutorial shows you how to create a "hello world" class and assign it to the main Timeline of a Flash file.
Note: The basic series of steps shown here describe how the sample code is organized and assigned to samples originally built in Adobe Flash Professional CS3. Visit the Flash ActionScript 3 samples page for more examples that demonstrate various features common in Flash development.
