Select Find to search for and change text within text objects, calculation icons, keywords associated with icons, and icon titles.
The Find command doesn't find text in OLE objects or library icons that are linked to your piece. You can find text in library icons by activating the library window you want to search and then selecting Find.
In the Find field, type or paste the text you want to locate.
You can use the asterisk (*) and question mark (?) wildcard characters to search for text. Enter an asterisk to search for an unspecified word or part of a word. Enter a question mark to search for an unspecified character. For example, searching for Sm?th locates words such as "Smith" and "Smyth". Searching for * Smith locates two-word groups such as "Jane Smith", "John Smith", and "Ms Smith".
In the Change To field, type or paste the text you want to replace the found text.
Use the Search list to specify where Authorware should look for text.
Filename Searches all icons in the file identified by the filename and any extension. If a library window is selected, this option shows the library name and extension.
Current Map window Searches only icons and maps in the currently open Map window.
From Paste Hand Searches all icons from the position of the Paste Hand in the Design window. This option is available only if a Paste Hand is in the Design window.
Between Flags Searches all icons between the start and stop flags. If only one flag is in the flowline, Authorware searches from the start flag to the end of the flowline, or from the beginning of the flowline to the stop flag. This option is available only if a flag is in the Design window.
Select Icon Titles to search for icon titles. When Authorware finds the icon title, it highlights the title.
Select Display Contents to search for text within display and interaction icons. When Authorware finds the text, it opens the Presentation window and highlights the text.
Select Calculations to search within calculation icons. When Authorware finds the text, it opens the Calculation window and highlights the text. Calculation windows close automatically after being searched.
Select Keywords to search icons for keywords. When searching for keywords, Authorware displays and highlights any matches. You can use the options in the Find dialog box to make changes to the found keywords.
You can also use the Keywords command to find all the keywords for an icon. For more information about using keywords, see Icon > Keywords.
Select Whole Word to search for whole words only (not combinations of characters within words). For example, if you search for the word resident using the Whole Word option, Authorware will locate "resident", but not "president". If you don't select this option, Authorware finds all instances of the characters you specified, even if they are part of another word.
Select Match Case to search for characters that match the characters and capitalization you specified. For example, if you search for President, Authorware won't locate "president". If you don't select this option, Authorware finds all instances of your characters without regard to capitalization.
Select Backwards to change the direction of the search. The search starts from the last icon or position indicated by a stop flag or Paste Hand and searches back toward the first icon, flag, or beginning of the window. For example, if you are searching the Design window, Authorware begins the search with the last icon in the window and moves to the first icon.
Click Find to start the search.
Click Change to replace text found during the search with text in the Change To text box.
Click Change All to replace all occurrences of the search text with the text in the Change To text box. Authorware finds the text and changes it automatically throughout specified window or icon. To cancel the search, press the Escape key. Authorware keeps all changes made up to the point when you pressed Escape.
Click Done to close the Find dialog box.
