Software Donation Program

The Macromedia Software Donation Program supports qualified tax-exempt, nonprofit organizations whose charitable purpose is neither political nor religious in nature.

We welcome donation requests from qualified nonprofit organizations that service disadvantaged youth, the elderly, the homeless, minorities, people with disabilities, and victims of abuse; that provide disaster relief, meal service, and medical or hospice care; that administer arts, education, and literacy programs; that support human and animal rights; and that protect the environment.

Macromedia also offers special pricing to registered non-profits in the US and Canada and registered charities in Europe.

Eligibilty for US and Canada

Macromedia defines verified nonprofit organizations as those that:

  • Are U.S. entities designated IRS Tax Code Section 501(c)(3) or Canadian entities that are recognized as registered charities by the national government;
  • Have an annual budget of five million U.S. dollars or equivalent ($5,000,000) or less;
  • Do not advocate, support, or practice unlawful discrimination based on race, religion, age, national origin, language, sex, sexual preference, or physical handicap, or any other protected class;
  • Do not have unlawful discriminatory practices;
  • Are not amateur or professional sports groups, teams, or an event for such organizations;
  • Are not educational institutions (such as all schools, colleges, universities, and vocational schools)

The following entities are not eligible:

  • Individuals;
  • Private organizations, political organizations, military or paramilitary organizations, or organizations that support violence in any form (including sanctioned wars);
  • Religious organizations, churches, temples, or seminaries (Exception: religious organizations requesting software specifically for use in secular community-service programs are eligible to receive donations)

Macromedia may modify the definition of verified nonprofit organization from time to time, in its sole discretion. All donations under this Software Donation Program are made by Macromedia at its sole discretion. Macromedia may modify or terminate this software donation program at any time, and for any reason.

How to Apply for US and Canada

In the United States and Canada, the Macromedia Software Donation Program is administered by the online donation portal TechSoup Stock, which is managed in turn by CompuMentor, a nonprofit organization specializing in technology assistance for community-based organizations.

Please note that while the goal of the Macromedia Software Donation Program is to facilitate straight donations of Macromedia products, CompuMentor charges a small administrative fee to recover its donation management and shipping costs.

To apply for a donation of Macromedia software, you must complete an online application and authentication procedure through the TechSoup Stock website:

  • Visit the TechSoup Stock website
  • Click the Find Donated and Discounted Products link
  • Select Macromedia from the Browse By Partner menu
  • Review the Macromedia products available for donation and begin the application process
