WEB INNOVATORS EMBRACE THE POWER OF MACROMEDIA GENERATOR
Adventure Zone Network, CustomCity.com, and SmashCast use Generator to deliver real-time visual Web experiences

flashforward2001 San Francisco—San Francisco, California—February 19, 2001—Macromedia, Inc. (NASDAQ: MACR) today announced that Macromedia Generator is being used by innovative companies to quickly differentiate their online brand by delivering high-impact, data-driven, personalized Web experiences and applications. Adventure Zone Network, CustomCity.com, and SmashCast have all deployed this high-performance, scalable solution for applications as varied as production and content management, product configurators, and online authoring of rich media content.

"The number one benefit that customers experience with Macromedia Generator is a decrease in maintenance and production costs," said Gayle Pietras, senior marketing manager, Macromedia. "Generator separates design from content, which means that content is automatically updated without any manual resources."

Macromedia Generator-driven dynamic sites can be quickly populated with interactive graphics, charts, tables and animations through drag-and-drop objects within the Macromedia Flash 5 authoring environment.

Adventure Zone Network (http://www.azn.com/), a digital travel entertainment company, is using Generator to help drive traffic and create brand awareness to differentiate itself from other online travel sites. The company uses Macromedia Flash, Dreamweaver, Fireworks and Generator, integrated with Allaire ColdFusion and Spectra, to create its dynamic entertainment presence. Adventure Zone Network has realized reduced production and content management since Generator enables its small Web team to remotely manage thousands of media assets through a simple Web interface.

"Many sites using content management solutions end up looking the same, sacrificing visual appeal for back-end control," said Reno Marioni, CEO, Adventure Zone Network. "With Macromedia Generator, we get the best of both worlds: the ability to instantly publish fresh, dynamic content, coupled with scalable, low-cost production and content management capabilities."

SmashCast (http://www.smashcaststudios.com/) offers a Generator ASP solution that automates the production of rich media content. Using the simple SmashCast API, web developers from HP, Primedia, and GMAC have been able to harness the power of Macromedia Generator in less than one week.

"Using SmashCast Commercial Studios, non-technical users are now creating and updating customized Web productions in real-time," said Dan Hobin, founder and CEO, SmashCast. "Macromedia Generator is a key element in making the SmashCast rich media automation process a success."

CustomCity.com (http://www.customcity.com) enables businesses, consumers, and consumer groups to select, decorate, and purchase a wide variety of high quality, brand name products for any occasion. The site features CustomStudio, a unique product configuration application that uses Macromedia Generator to make it easy for anyone to customize products including apparel, mugs, mousepads, duffel bags, and other related merchandise.

"Macromedia Generator enabled CustomCity.com to create a completely interactive online design solution," said Scott M. Levine, CEO, CustomCity.com. "Generator allows our customers to select from a rich product offering that incorporates sophisticated price points, dynamic design elements, and unique production variables."
