San Francisco—December
17, 2002—Macromedia, Inc. (Nasdaq:
MACR) today announced that Macromedia
Flash MX received the Macworld Editor's Choice
Award for best Web Publishing Software. Macromedia
Fireworks MX was picked as a runner-up in the
same category. The 18th annual honors are bestowed
on the Macintosh products that take full advantage
of the power available in Apple's latest operating
system, Mac OS X. The awards were announced in the
December 2002 issue of Macworld.
"Macromedia delivered new versions of all of
its core authoring products running on Mac OS X in
2002, so it's great to see such a positive response
on these new products from both customers and the
industry," said Norm Meyrowitz, president of
products, Macromedia. "With support for application
components, video, and accessible content for people
with disabilities, Macromedia Flash MX enables customers
to streamline development time and deliver great end-user
experiences to the widest possible audience."
Both Macromedia Flash MX and Fireworks MX are available
as part of Macromedia
Studio MX, which has been adopted by more than
250,000 customers since its introduction in June,
making it the most successful offering in Macromedia
history. Macromedia recently announced that the product's
$799 introductory pricing will end on December 31,
2002, at which time the cost will increase to $899.
As an extra incentive to buy or upgrade, anyone purchasing
Macromedia Studio MX before the end of the year will
receive a copy of Macromedia
