MACROMEDIA AND AVAYA TO DELIVER INTEGRATED CONFERENCING SOLUTIONS TO SERVICE PROVIDERS AND ENTERPRISES
Macromedia Selected for Premier Membership in Avaya DeveloperConnection Program
San Francisco, CA - September 20, 2005 - Macromedia, Inc. (Nasdaq: MACR) today announced the integration of the Macromedia Breeze web conferencing solution with the Avaya Meeting Exchange audio conferencing solution, giving enterprises and service providers an integrated conferencing solution for on-premise or in-network installation. Macromedia has also been certified by Avaya Inc., a leading global provider of business communications applications, systems, and services, as a premier member of the Avaya DeveloperConnection program.
The Macromedia Breeze Avaya Adapter will be available to enterprises and service providers seeking to integrate Breeze with Avaya Meeting Exchange by the end of September. The solution simplifies conferencing start-up by allowing Breeze users to automatically dial out to selected attendees.
Customers can now take advantage of the flexible, user-friendly web conferencing capabilities of Breeze to enhance their audio conferences directly from the Breeze meeting room. They can access Avaya Meeting Exchange audio conference controls, such as dialing out, muting or disconnecting participants, and identifying speakers. Users can also record both audio and web conferencing portions of a Breeze meeting, including synchronized recording of the telephone audio conference.
The high-impact web conferencing capabilities of Breeze let users meet instantly with anyone, anywhere to share presentations, applications, and engaging multimedia content, such as video and simulations. Breeze is delivered through Macromedia Flash Player, which forms the backbone of the Macromedia Flash Platform and is currently installed on nearly 600 million Internet-connected desktops and mobile devices. This pervasive platform commands a million-strong developer community and leverages existing content on an array of devices. Users can instantly access Breeze from any standard web browser without downloading or installing software.
The integrated solution is appealing to government, education, financial services, healthcare, telecommunications, and other organizations that want to install integrated audio and web conferencing on-premise behind their firewalls, for security or confidentiality reasons. The solution also enables telecommunications and conferencing service providers to use their existing networks to quickly bring to market differentiated audio and web conferencing offers that provide a more integrated user experience, lower their operating expense and increase margins.
"Working with Macromedia as a member of our DeveloperConnection program, we are able to offer customers an integrated solution that will significantly improve their productivity and efficiency and provide a choice of either high security on-premise solutions or convenient hosted network service provider solutions," said Greg Brophy, director of product management for conferencing and collaboration, Avaya.
The Avaya DeveloperConnection program promotes the development, compliance-testing, and co-marketing of innovative third-party products that are compatible with standards-based Avaya solutions. Member organizations have expertise in a broad range of technologies that includ IP telephony, contact centers, and mobility applications—helping companies extend the value of multi-vendor networks and transform voice into a business application that delivers true value to the bottom line.
"Membership in Avaya’s developer community leverages the openness and flexibility of Breeze, enabling the Avaya ecosystem to extend web conferencing functionality and interoperability well beyond what is available for Avaya enterprise and service provider customers today," said Eric Weiss, vice president of telecommunications solutions, Macromedia. "By working more closely with Avaya, we can deliver carrier-grade and enterprise-wide solutions to the market, ensuring that our customers can securely and reliably seize the new service opportunities offered by VoIP, conferencing, and collaboration."
